New girl on the block at Wedderburn

Even with a record entry of females forward for the Premier Society sale at Carlisle it was Longfield Forest that caught our eye, securing her for 12,000gns. She travelled across the water from Robert Nelson, Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Forest is out of Glencloy Brooklyn and is sired by the infamous Challoch Bearskin. We’re looking forward to seeing what these new genetics bring to the flock.

Wedderburn bring home a record breaker!

The inaugural Spotacular Spotties sale will certainly go down in the history books for Wedderburn as we stuck to our guns and dug deep to secure a fantastic Dutch import ewe from Dave Roberts’ Boyo flock for the new breed record and Worcester Livestock Market all breeds centre female record of 20,000gns!

Candy Floss – 20,00gns

Candy Floss as she is known caught her eye from the second we saw her for her length, scale, breed character and natural fleshing attributes, combined with that added x-factor, we can’t wait to see how she breeds for us. Joining her from the Boyo flock is another aged ewe, Camilla, again an import ewe, who we paid 6500gns for her.

Camilla – 6500gns

We didn’t just buy on the day, we had some lambs in the sale too and first up for us was our ewe lamb, Wedderburn Elder, a daughter of our successful stock tup Glencoy Chance out of Lochlad Conker, a Hiroshima daughter. This one sold for 1550gns to K Tucker, West Sussex.

Wedderburn Elder – 1550gns

Joining her on the journey to Sussex at 1450gns was Wedderburn Echinacea, again by Chance and this time out of an imported ewe.

Trade for tup lambs across the sale was a little sticky, but both of ours got away with Wedderburn Eagle, a son of Chance out of Lochlad Cuckoo, selling for 650gns to B Davies, Haverfordwest and another Chance son, Wedderburn Erasmus, selling for 500gns to previous ewe lamb buyer K Tucker.

We’d like to wish all our buyers the very best with their new purchases and of course a huge thank you to Dave Roberts for providing the opportunity to purchase such fantastic genetics.

Whatmore bred lambs join the flock

As well as selling Spotties at the Worcester sale, we were excited to bring home a pair of ET-bred lambs by Glencoy Chance out of an imported ewe from Sara Gibbons’ Whatmore flock. We purchased these on a recipient ewe for 3400gns. We can’t wait to see how these grow on in the flock.

Wedderburn lambs sell for 2800gns in Worcester

Having supported the inaugural pedigree female sale at Worcester Market this month, we were delighted with trade for our Dutch Spotted sheep.

Topping our offering was a Zwartble recipient ewe with embryo lambs at foot by Glencoy Chance out of the 2000gns Tip Top Candy, herself a full sister to Tip Top Calvin Klein. This outfit sold for 2800gns to T Mogg, Redditch.

We then sold a brace of Texel cross Beltex females with Grade 4 ewe lambs at foot by Calvin Klein again for 600gns and a third one for 680gns.

We’d like to wish all buyers the very best with the sheep and congratulations to McCartneys for putting on the sale. We look forward to building on this in the future for the breed.
